Terms of Service

Welcome to Camp Sherwin, a family-oriented campground on the bank of Lake Erie.  Our number one priority is the safety and comfort of our guests.  Please read our rules and guidelines to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience.

  • Check in is 3:00 p.m. and check out is 12 noon. 

Please return keys to the camp office during office hours. When office is closed, please leave keys in the kep drop box located on the front of the camp store. 

  • All guest must register at the camp office before entering the campground. 
  • All cars MUST have a car pass posted in the front window at all times.
  • Camp Sherwin SPEED LIMIT is 5 MPH.
  • The road is one-way from Henry to just North of Lander. 
  • Please watch for children. 
  • Driving on grass and on-street parking is prohibited.
  • Maximum of 2 vehicles per site. This includes boats.

Quiet hours are 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. daily.  Curfew is 11 pm – All children under 18 must be at their campsite or in a group area supervised by adults.  NO walking around camp after 11:00 p.m.  NO bicycle riding after dark.  Playground closes at dusk.

Children and teenagers are NEVER to be left unsupervised; an adult should be on the camp grounds at all times.

CAMP SITE- Campers are responsible for their guests.  All guests must register at the camp office prior to entering the campground.  The YMCA car pass must be displayed on all vehicles at all times.  Guests visiting must use the designated parking areas in camp.  Only 2 vehicles permitted per campsite.  Guests will park in the designated parking area.  To keep our campers safe, please keep campfires small and never left unattended.  Extinguish your fire before vacating the site.  DO NOT move fire rings. Firewood bundles are available for purchase at the camp store.

ALCOHOL-Open containers of alcoholic beverages are not permitted off your campsite. 

Do not remove branches (dead or alive) from standing trees, cut trees, bushes, or alter landscape without approval from management. 

Remove all clotheslines when not in use and prior to departure.

Picnic tables are to remain on the site in which they are placed.  Please do not move tables to another site.

Be sure to return any borrowed equipment to office prior to closing.  This includes volleyballs, bocce, lifejackets, paddles, corn hole, pickle ball,...

BICYCLES/MOTORIZED VEHICLES-  Bicycles are to be ridden on camp roads only.  Children under 12 must wear a helmet.  Children not following camp rules or not listening to camp staff can result in immediate eviction.   Unlicensed motor vehicles of any kind are NOT permitted on the property.  This includes dirt bikes, golf carts, go-carts, mini bikes, ATV, Hoverboards or motorized skateboards. 

POOL AND SRAY & PLAY- Pool and Spray & Play Park Rules are posted in the Pool/Spray & Play areas and camp office.  Pool rules are enforced.

Picnic tables in the pool and pond area are available for our members, campers and day pass customers at a one-hour maximum use.  If you wish to reserve a table for an extended period, please see the camp office. 

We ask your cooperation in keeping the restrooms clean. Children 6 and under must be supervised in restrooms by an adult at all times.

No admittance to restrooms when they are being cleaned or repaired. Please report any problems to the office. 

PETS-Non-vicious breeds of pets are permitted.  All pets must remain on a leash at all times.  No pets in the swimming pool area.  Pet owner assumes complete liability for any injury inflicted to/by their pet.   Owners must clean up after their pets anywhere on the camp grounds. 

FISHING AND BOATING POND-  Shaper pond is “catch and release” only.  There is no fishing permitted after dusk.  Children under 13 MUST be supervised by an adult at the fishing pond.  Please observe boating rules for Shaper Pond.     No swimming or wading in the pond 

GARBAGE AND WASTE DISPOSAL-  By order of PA state law, gray/waste water must be disposed of in the dump station (located by Blake Bathhouse on the south end of camp).  It is illegal to release in/on the ground.  

CLEANING- Rates do not include daily cleaning services. Cabins must be broom swept and garbage to the dumpster at time of check-out. If cabin requires excessive cleaning beyond normal use, you will be charged $25 for each hour of cleaning. Sites will be left in the same condition at check-out as they were found at check-in. You are responsible for any damages caused by yourself, guest or visitor in your party. You are to notify Camp Office and/or Maintenance if there are any damages at time of check-in.  Put all garbage in a sealed bag and dispose of at dumpsters across from Darone Pavilion. 

CHARTER BOAT SERVICES- The fish remains cooler is located on the north end of the maintenance building. No fish remains are to be placed in the dumpsters.  Cleaning of fish on picnic tables is prohibited.

WEATHER EMERGENCY: If there is a weather emergency such as a tornado warning or high winds, please go to the lower bathhouse down by Cooks Cabin immediately to protect you and your family.

DISCLAIMER: The YMCA of Greater Erie and the Management of YMCA Camp Sherwin assume no responsibility for the safety of guests and reserve the right to evict any guests who break camp rules or create a disturbance.  Camp Sherwin is not responsible for accidents, injuries, or loss of money, damages to campers, cars or other personal property.  Any indecent and/or inappropriate behavior, or activities deemed as such by the camp management, will not be tolerated.  Any illegal behavior will be reported to the State Police immediately.

Chainsaws, firearms, and fireworks prohibited.

Defacing of property will be cause for immediate eviction and possible prosecution.

Sex Offender Screenings-The YMCA of Greater Erie takes seriously the safety and well being of all in our buildings and program centers. The YMCA has a zero tolerance policy for any form of abuse or mistreatment of youth. Therefore, the YMCA of Greater Erie conducts regular sex offender screenings on all members, participants and guests. If a sex offender match occurs, the YMCA reserves the right to cancel membership, end program participations and remove visitation access. In addition, the YMCA reserves the right to deny access or membership to any person who has been accussed or convicted of any crime involving sexual abuse, is or has been a registered sex offender, or is presently or habitually under the influence of dangerous drugs or chemicals, narcotics or intoxicating beverages.
